My first photo's from London Fashion Week, hot off the press! Er, camera machine... It's really a very strange and wonderful experience to be here in London for Fashion Week, since it is my first time- and it was so weird not being in New York! Nevertheless, I'm finding style here that I love, and of course I love any Fashion Week, anywhere in the world.

Dressing For: Outside Lands

Outside Lands is pretty much like any other music festival in that your inner hippie gets to come out, except this time it has to come out slightly more clothed. San Francisco, home of the Hippies, is at it's foggiest in the summer (so if you are planning a visit, wait until October or November), so more than just a bathing suit top is required. While it won't be raining, layers and jackets are highly recommended, especially as you go from morning (foggy) to midday (sunny/warmish) to night (cold).

A Jersey Maxi Dress (1) is always a good option, as are something a little more substantial for the leg area, like AllSaints Paradise Leggings (2), or BDG's Embroidered Cigarette Jeans (3) and Maroon High Rise Cigarette Jeans (4). Next layer a sweater like Wildfox Couture's worn-chic Lennon Sweater (5) or Isabel Marant's sporty-cool Cilla Crochet Lace Pullover (6) over a tank, a Woven Bustier (7), or a Perfect Chambray Ex-Boyfriend Shirt (8), which could also go over a tank top that has a bustier under it. Layering! In addition or instead of, depending on your body temperature and the weather, a sweater coat- Flower Power Cardi (9)- or a real coat- QSW Beach Blanket Coat (11) will keep you nice and toasty. If you really want to go all out, though, the Isabel Marant Miel Suede Fringed Jacket (12) is pretty much the perfect thing, for any facet of life.

Footwear for this occasion includes Billy Short Boots (13), Ankle Boot with Studded Toe (14), and Superga's 2750 Metallic Sneakers (16), because even hippies need a little metallic in their lives. Moccasins are also acceptable. You might also see birkenstocks, which are not acceptable, ever, but hippies will be hippies. Ski-like socks-Marled Boot Sock (17)- are fully acceptable, especially if casually poking out of one's boots. Keep your neck either fashionable or warm with Dannijo's Brielle Necklace (10) and AllSaints Blossom Decay Scarf (15). Your wrists will probably be cold anyways, so go ahead and jewel those up with an awesome Vintage Marana Cuff (19), or any other vintage or wild-west-inspired thing. The Hepcat Shades (18) might not be vintage or wild west, but they are still cool. And, of course, one needs a backpack at these sort of festival like things, so here you go-Tribal Leather Flap Backpack (20).

For the Fourth: What to Wear

If you still don't know what to wear for the 4th of July, here you go!

Over your super sweet swimwear (try saying that five times fast), you could either do a dress, or a top and bottoms (see below). Sequin dresses (1) are always welcome for anything, especially the fourth. Striped dresses, like the Yves Saint Laurent Printed Tulip Dress (2), Chinti and Parker Striped Organic Cotton Mini Dress (3), Marc by Marc Jacobs Helga Striped Knit Dress (4), Romwe Navy Striped Sleeveless Dress (5), and the Melissa Odabash Jamie Striped Mini Dress (6) are perfectly fourth-y. Stars and Stripes, right? Forever 21 Polka Dot Dresses (7) and See by Chloe Denim Bustier Babydoll dresses (8) work well as well. If you want solids, go for Topshop's Drop Waist Shift Dress (9) or Issa's Eyelet-Embroidered Cotton Dress (10). If you want to go full-out-flag,  Storets Stars and Stripes Dress (11) and BDG's Knit Flag Print Dress (12) are your best friends. 

If you live in a hot climate or have great abs, I highly suggest wearing this Topshop Flag Bralet (1). If you want American Flag style: Equipment Stars and Stripes Silk Shirt (2) (which also comes in long sleeve, for the life of me I don't know why it's so expensive), Nasty Gal America Shirt (3), BDG American Flag Chambray Shirt (4), Hilfiger Denim Flag Print Tank, or the Haute Hippie Haute Hoodie Flag Poncho (6).

You may get chilly waiting for those fireworks to start, so keep warm with the Current/Elliot Star print Denim Jacket (7), Juicy Couture Preppy Cable Pullover (8), Junya Watanabe Faux Leather and Organza Shrug (9)- ok, that one is more for show than warmth- Haute Hippie Woven Cotton Poncho (10) or Boy. by Band of Outsiders New Schoolboy Striped Linen Blazer (11).

Moving on to the bottoms, you don't want to be pant less. Or maybe you do, which is fine too. hey, it's a free country. If you want to cover your legs, well, bum really, there are quite a wide variety of denim short options for you, including Rag and Bone Mila Shorts (1), J Brand Low-rise Denim Cutoff Shorts (2/3), Siwy Camilla Cutoff Shorts (4), Siwy Cutoff Shorts (5), Current/Elliott The Boyfriend Star Print Denim Shorts (6), J Brand Star Cutoff Shorts (7), Asos American Flag Print Denim Shorts (8), Topshop Bleach Flag Print Hotpants (9) and Anthropologie's Bleach-Dipped Shorts (14). For non-denim shorts, the J.Crew Dapper Striped Shorts (10).

If you want your legs to be covered, go for the J Brand 811 Mid-Rise Skinny Leg Jeans (11), Current/Elliot Star Print Skinny Jeans (12), J Brand 811 Mid-Rise Skinny Leg White Jeans (13), Sandro Poete Skinny Capri Jeans (15) or the Current/Elliot Stiletto Floral Print Cropped Skinny Jeans (16). My family and I recently stayed at a friend's house in San Francsico (don't you love summer?) and fro some amazing reason, the weather was incredible. Summer's in SF aren't usually warm and sunny, in fact, they are notoriously foggy. But this weekend was bee-oo-teeful, and I wrangled my sister into taking my photos on the rooftop of our house. Pretty no?

I have made the decision that Rompers are actually the best item of clothing in the world. Not only are they adorable, but they are super versatile. You get the freedom of shorts with the look of a dress. What could be better?! You can go from playground to dinner to dancing, etc., etc. (Provided you meet the age requirements for both playground and bar).

There are a lot of rompers out there, most likely one for every occasion, and every body type, though I am still trying to find one that isn't too short-waisted. I think the Alex Wang or the Vanessa Bruno might be my answer. Stay tuned. In the meantime, shop away! 

Recycle the Runway

This past weekend my lovely friend Sara (above, with a few denim bracelets she made) presented a 3-piece collection at Recycle the Runway, which, as you may guess, is full of looks made from recycled clothing. There were some good looks, and a lot of wonky ones, but they were all very creative. My favorite looks were the denim looks (and not just because they were made by my friend) which were all made from old jeans, jean jackets etc. etc. Check 'em out!
